About Us

What is a Lutheran?

Lutheranism is a movement within Christianity

that seeks to preserve the best of the Catholic and Protestant traditions

by holding to Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation and

by remaining faithful to the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God.

Our Pastor

Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Rev. John M. Young attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1991. He then prayerfully took a very different path towards ministry, attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree in 1996. After serving five years as the assistant pastor of King of Kings Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas, Pastor Young accepted the call to serve as senior pastor of Our Savior in 2002.

Pastor Young currently serves on the board of Love INC - a non-profit organization that supports the needy in Dutchess County.

In his free time, he hikes, cooks, studies genealogy, and makes use of his aerospace degree by expertly maneuvering his trusty drone. He and his wife, Raquel, have two adult daughters - Abby who lives in Fishkill, NY, and Emma who lives in Orlando, FL. They also have two adorable Boston Terriers.
